Seller miss leads with description item is illegal?
I bought a self Defence item off a auction site. When I got the item it was a stun gun, which I knew was illegal but if I took it to police thought I would get charged with possesion, so I put it back in its box in a drawer untill there was a amnesty. But police got the selller and my details on his pc, came to my house I handed it over told them and told them what I thought I was buying, I have been charged waiting for a report going to Fiscal to see if its going to court the receipt I got just says Self Defence Personal protection device. I have never been in trouble before and have a shotgun licence. Any advice or whats likely to happen to would be great thanks

- you should have taken it to the police straight away, you wouldn't have gotten in trouble if you handed it in when it arrived as you had a good excuse, but by putting it in a drawer you can be charged with possession, you still have a good excuse as it was in never used and kept in a drawer, but you will prob get a fine if anything - you have a really good chance the the fiscal will not take the matter any further due to the circumstances and the fact that you have not been it trouble before
- You knowingly purchase a illegal device. It is not clear what the statute is, but lets say you are in clear violation. Consider finding out what are the sentences for this violation, and then calling the DA's office to make a deal. The alternative is you take your chances in court, which may render you a lighter, the same, or heavier judgment.
