Where can I buy dammaged guns?

I am looking for water, smoke or fire dammaged guns. Does anyone know of a website or online auction that has them for sale??

  1. No one is going to sell you a firearm that might hurt you. They're responsible if it explodes on you. More often than not, they get parted out or scrapped. If you're only looking for damaged ones to restore etc, my best source for all my needs was always the local pawn shops. Tell them you like to restore them or that you're working towards a gunsmithing degree/license etc. They buy all sorts of crap and will often let it go incredibly low. I've walked into shops before and walked out with a dozen guns for $100. Gunsmiths know that pawnshops are probably the number one source of decently priced parts.
  2. I have seen a few damaged, or at least, unsightly weapons on auction sites like www.auctionarms.com and www.gunbroker.com I picked up a S&W mdl 57, 41 mag. off auctionarms recently. Some nitwit left the gun lying on a wet surface. All the bluing is off on the right side of the gun and it is freckeled with rust. Got it for $200. Cleaned it out and had it polished and refinished. Now it a nice gun. Good way to get a bargain, but you pay your money and you take your chances.
  3. www.Centuryarms.com has a scratch and dent section www.jgsales.com has groups of guns that are rusted cracked stock and so on peridoicly. I suggest repairing any bad blueing with a duracoat finsh Spanky
  4. You can typically get ones in need of some repair at your local gun stores. Smoke damaged guns are probably ok to fix. Water damage can be tricky, if too much surface metal has rusted away, there goes the heat treated surface. Count in fire damaged guns here too. Both would need re-heat treating and this is expensive. Unless you have access to the proper equipment, I wouldn't recommend fixing these two types.
