Hey are police auctions safe?
I dont know I see alot of great 2000 and up year model cars for 1/10 of its original value. What if that crackhead or that druglord that previously owned that car wants it back isnt all they have to do is remember there VIN and track you down? so are police auctions really safe?

- im sure its safe.... why will the police have it auctioned if the case was still active... but for me, just go to another auction.
- Crackheads and druglords don't remember VINS and they don't care about the car. They can buy another.
- Yes they are safe. Most of the cars they sell, the owner is already indicted. If not the owner will not want it back because its the vehicle they where caught in.
- Depends on whether you[re keeping the car near the place it was confiscated from the criminal. Another thing is that if that person is actually in prison, he'd have other things to worry about than tracking the car down. One more thing...if he got the car be illegal means, why does he have to track down the original car? He might just as well get another one and save himself the trouble of tracking down his old car.
- they're in jail. i wouldn't worry.
- They are generally safe from that, since the aforementioned crackhead or druglord are in jail (or dead) if their property is being auctioned. The bigger issue is the condition of the property because criminals are not known for being especially caring or knowledgeable about the things they own. Look for leaking head gaskets from too much hard driving, and worn brakes and suspension pieces. Oh, and look out for big bags of heroin in the trunk.
- Yes they are safe. One of my friends is a cop and they actually sell pretty nice vehicles there. Like you say the only catch is that they were previously owned by drug lords.
