How much do cars really sell for at police auctions?
I'm looking to buy an suv in decent shape that's a max of 5 to 6 years old. How much can I reallistically expect to pay for it at auction? And if someone knows a site where I can look up police auctions in the Durham NC area, that would be helpful also. I'm looking for a ballpark estimate, not an exact price. Also, I'm an over the road trucker driver and don't get home except a few days a month so going to the police station to ask is not really an option.

- There is no set price that's why they call it a auction . As for were you can find one go to the police station and ask when there next one is or if they any other police department in the area is having one.
- As already stated, there is no "average" price for vehicles sold at police and government auctions. However, prices are usually lower than you would find at dealers or even from individuals because of the higher risk assumed by buyers -- because the cars can't be driven (they can be started).
