If I boost the price of my stuff with a fake account on that well know on-line auction. Do they REALLY care?

At the end of the day they are still making money so I dont think that they care if you "trot" the price up using a fake account. Agree or Disagree. Thank you

  1. I think they take that very seiously & if you get caught you will be barred from selling

  2. It can be classed as fraud. My advice is would you like it if someone was doing it to you? and be very careful, it could get you into some serious trouble.

  3. It is against ebay rules (shill bidding), why bother though, just put the starting price higher and you won't risk buying your own item.

  4. you are allowed to say ebay on this site you know!

Yes they do really care and it's probably fairly easy to tell you are doing it if one account is always bidding for another account's stuff. I can't see WHY they care though because the more money you make, the bigger cut they take!

  5. it is fraud and not a nice thing to do!! ebay works on trust dont ruin it!

  6. if you are using ebay, dont do that. they track your cookies on your computer and can tell if you bid from the same comptuer by your ip address. i know someone that did it before and got in trouble. you can however have someone you know bid for you, my friend has done that a few times without any trouble.

  7. That's called "fraud", so you'd best take steps to avoid getting caught. (That would include accessing any routers involved in your activity, and wiping clean their records...)

  8. Your buyers care. And believe me, your buyers can sniff out shill bidders. They also talk and share information in eBay bulletin boards.

Are simply a dishonest person? If so, the sky's the limit for you. Why limit yourself to simple on-line fraud when you could be stealing cars or shaking down kids at the bus stop?

In the end, you are either a person of integrity or you are not. Good luck in making the choice that works for you.

  9. Another example of why I won't touch E-bay with a ten foot pole ...

  10. Aside from the issues already raised here about fraud, what do you do when/if you actually win the auction.

If you bid your item up to $50.00 and win, you have really lost because you still have the item and you have paid to list it and paid the commission to ebay for 'selling' it.

This will definitely loose money for you in the long run.

  11. Only if no-one squeals on you and you pay your bills

  12. Criminal fraud. And, they are cracking down on this, to catch the cheaters.
