I have spotted a rare coin on a well known on line auction site that I AM going to buy but I need to know?
Is it best for me to type my bid with 15 seconds to the end of the auction and risk something going wrong with my computer etc etc. Or keying in my massive high bid with a week to go and just pay what I have to pay.. I collect old british coins and I have been looking for this coin for over a year now. I WILL be the highest bidder but I need to know when is it best to key in my stupidly high bid. A) With a week to go and just pay what I have to pay OR B) Wait till the last second and risk something going wrong (my computer freezing or going offline etc etc) Thank you for your answers...Cheers.

- To avoid over paying, you should bid the highest amount you are willing to spend. Then forget about the auction until it is over. That being said, I always like to watch the end of the auction and usually bid myself higher than originally anticipated. I need to follow my own advice... :-)
- Leave it till the last day but not the last minuite, you dont want to push the price up to much by bidding early.
But make sure your bid is in with at least 3 hours to go.
- Usually it matter not one bit, someone else will have an eye on it, and will have a price in mind already.
I would probably say bid with a couple of hours to go, that way you can have a back up plan just in case, i.e. run to nearest library/cyber cafe/friends house to bid.
- I assume it is ebay, if so,. use auction stealer.
- probably the seller will have his mate bid in it just to make sure of a good price anyway
- Just be careful, some e-bayers have lots of accounts in different names, they bid against themselves to up the price.I would wait to near the end.
