Can you really make money on the internet through online auctions as easily as they claim?

- Making money from Internet auctions is easy IF you have a product that the bidders actually want. If you stumble upon a product that collectors or ebay buyers want, then you can expect a fierce bidding on your product.
But a lot of sellers also end up with no sales because of several factors -- no interested buyers, poor product picture, poor product presentation, incoherent policies esp shipping. There is no guarantee in online auction; in fact, many ebay sellers are complaining that it is now tough to sell on ebay because of increasing competition from growing number of sellers, higher listing fees and final value fees charged by ebay.
- I've seen those ads. You throw up all your worthless junk and people will throw money at you. No, it's not nearly that easy.
In order to make a decent profit, you need to treat it like a business. I mean, you have to have good quality products and offer them at a reasonable price. Typically it takes time to build up an auction business. Most people don't turn a profit in the first few months and quit. With perseverance, it is possible to make a fairly good living selling things online.
- Possible, but not as easy as some of the headlines claim. In my experience, I've made some profit on ebay and continue to do so but I had to inform and educate myself. I also know people personally, who are making a living on ebay alone. For me, I recently started and so far, not bad at all. What made a difference was, I learnt from the already experienced. There are many ebooks etc but most of them contain the same or out-dated info.
- No, there is quite a bit of work. The people I know who do it spend a lot of time at the post office. That is for the items they sell. There is a statistic for relisting an item (after it doesn't sell) I think it may be as high as 40%?? Forty percent of the items listed end without a single bid. Hope this little bit helps.
