With respect to online auctions what are some of the risks faced by seller?

Public Comments

  1. As long as your use a site like Ebay the risks to the seller are very low as long as your are honest and legit.

  2. The main risk is that of being exposed to the wrong sort of people - i.e. people that will try to rip you off or something. If you're using a reputable website then this is minimal. Do whatever you can to stay anonomous to potential buyers to avoid any chance of someone harassing you.

Assuming of course you have ever legal right to auction off whatever it is you plan to auction off. If you're trying to resell event tickets or copywritten material then you have many other risks to worry about.

  3. One of the risks is where the buyer says that they have not received the item you sent them and expect you to send them another one.

Always make sure you get some proof of postage/shipping and if this happens then say that you will get the mail company to track where you item has gone before you do a replacement.

This can be quite a costly risk but it can happen.

I don't mean to be cynical but you will have no idea whether the buyer has received the item or not. There are people out there who will try to 'pull a fast one'.

    Good luck!
