- yeah, there's a site dedicated to only textbook auctions. As long as you're not copying text and trying to pawn it off as your own, you aren't in any copywrite infringement.
- Only if you are re-selling the original copy produced by the publisher. In other words, you cannot reproduce the text book and sell it - WHETHER OR NOT you give credit to the author/publisher.
- Did you purchase these books? If so, they are yours and you can sell them. But if didn't buy them and they weren't a provable gift then no.
- It's definetely not illegal.
- ummmm..... i think Figato is outnumbered... yeah... my brain is on vacation in the Caribbean. bb
- If you OWN the book, you can transfer the ownership of that book to anyone. You can either sell it or give it away. Many people might Buy a book or workbook, then copy the pages out so that they are not writing on the original pages (especially workbooks). If you have copied those Pages and gotten ANY use out of them at all, then You can not sell the original. Let's say you are homeschooling, and you buy a workbook for your 2 kids to use for 3rd grade. You make copies of the workbook pages so that you don't have to rip the pages out of the book or so you do not have to have your kids write in the, As soon as you have copied the pages and a KID writes on one, IT IS YOURS FOR EVER. If you copy it again for the 2nd kid, or if the 2nd kids write in the original, then You have profited from the copying because you did not have to buy another book. If you then Sell the Book again, you have AGAIN profited again, because not only did you not have to buy for the 2nd kid, but you did not have to buy for the first kid... In the case where it is a book which is NOT a consumable book such as a standard text book, Then Your kid #1 can read it and even make notes in it. Then kid #2 can read it and make notes in it. THEN you can sell it notes and all to anyone and that would be fine.. You can even go back and erase all the noted and it is still OK. The book has lost value because of normal wear and tear, but you did not violate any copyright laws. ALSO, you are not allowed to scan the pages into the computer and have them read it there unless you erase all copies of the book before you sell the original. NO, this logic does not work for consumables, sorry.
- Yes, it is legal to resell any copyrighted media (including CDs and DVDs) unless you agreed to a non-transferable license of some sort, like with computer software. It is a well-held principle of copyright law, called the first-sale doctrine.
