What is the process of buying a handgun from overseas?

I'm just looking for a specific handgun with ammo. All of the auction sites that have it here have continually sold it out or have it for very expensive with no ammo for it. With that in mind, I'm thinking of going overseas for it. Has anyone ever bought a gun from overseas and had it imported? What are the regulations/ tariff procedure? Can I just send it? Is there a special company that can help me? Thanks for answering the questions! jericho 941, with 9mm and .41 ae ammo thx Nothing from magnum research, Tanfoglio or the CZ version. This includes the baby eagle 9mm, 40sw and or .45. I just want the original Jericho 941 + ammo at a relatively affordable price. Thanks!

  1. Not positive but you might want to check with customs to see if thats even legal, cause it don't sound to safe and comforting for the rest of us reading this question...
  2. The BATF has a license just for importers and they have a whole host of regulations and forms to adhere to. You can find importers that will bring something in for you, for a price. I have done this, it's not cheap or easy. Curious, what could you possibly find overseas that you can't get in the USA? I know of very few, except ex-Soviet full auto models, that you can't get here.....write me, maybe I can help.
  3. I'm sure it's possible but I'd be willing to bet you'll face tight restrictions and a ton of regulations and paper work to all have in order before you can do it. But I can't see how there is any pistol you can't possibly find within the United States that is available elsewhere unless it's some ultra-expensive ultra rare historical model. Why don't you offer more details and describe the pistol you're thinking of?
  4. I think it wold probably cost you less in the long run to find a local (here in the US) dealer that already has one. Between the cost of the pistol, shipping and insurance, the importing/importer fees and who knows what else, that could end up costing you a ton of money. For the record, there is a Jericho 941 (with some ammo) on gunbroker right now. Ammo seems like it will be the bigger issue, regardless. In a quick search, I couldn't any on the major auction sites. There is a guy in MD that supposedly makes .41 AE (second link below). I just can't see how importing a gun from overseas will cost you less than buying one here, unless you get one heck of a deal. If you do manage to get one, and anything is wrong with the pistol, then what? Either way, good luck.
