Are car auctions really good to buy from?
i live in orange county california and want to buy a mini cooper...a friend told me of these auctions and how great they are and how you can get cars for much cheaper than normal...are there a lot of auctions down here and are they safe to buy from? my friends relative will be going with me since he does this stuff all of the time. also, are there any sites I can look on that will have cars available and up for auction? thanks!

- Cars are always a gamble to buy even new ones just test drive or take a mechanic.
- Check with the sheriff's sale. You can get great deals but have someone check out the engine before you buy. Also check out the electrical. If the electrical does not work it is a huge pain to fix.
- they are a lot caper but you will usually have to put in some cash after you buy it because it is never afer sure thing that it is perfectly fine.

Please answer mine. :]
- Sure they are great. and usually you get a ridiculously good deal. if you have a friend that is a mechanic. that is a big plus. you have to be sure that the car is mechanicaly balanced and not a lemon.

in any auction you need a kelly blue book (to see if it is a good value).
and a person who really knows their cars.
- Absolutely! Usually when cars are up for auction they are seized property or previously government owned. There are cars that people just put up for auction to get rid of as well, but you cant really go wrong at a police auction. Lots of those cars were just repoed or towed or used on operations. Check out the site GovernmentAuctions.org They have listings of many auctions for around the country.
- Yes, in most cases you can get good bargains but you have to know what you are doing. You have to know how to judge a car's condition without being able to drive it. You also have to know your prices so that you'll know a bargain when you see it. And don't get too excited when bidding, or you will pay too much. Here's more about it:

- You might want to check out http://www.highendautoauctions.com -
you can check out prices there, and also the "guide to buying online" has info about what to look for and making sure you get a good deal with the auction (getting the VIN # so you can look up the car history, etc.)
