- All the auctions I have seen use people that work directly for them that they have hired to do all kinds of work for them. Getting a job with the auction is done by applying directly to the company that holds the auction. The regular employees do many things other than just driving. Others that drive the cars are volunteers that will do it on a night by night basis. Sometimes they are given some money for the night, but not always. That just all depends upon how the auction went, how well the driver handled himself, and how quick he was to get from one vehicle to the next to run through. Drivers that haul cars for the auction are usually either one of the full time employees, or a private contractor. Dealers have to pay to have the auction haul cars for them if they don't do that for themselves. People that are full time employees who drive are usually ones that have had quite a bit of experience in doing that from other places.
