Why do people buy completely burnt cars from auctions?

For what purposes?

1. old school or just cheap cars?
2. maybe they just like to restore it?
3. When scrap is high, say over $150/ton you can buy them for scrap metal and make a little money. but mostly thieves buy late model burnt cars to get the papers/Vin#'s to steal another unburnt car and switch Vins. Most of these get exported to...
4. Parts. If you buy a vehicle for parts, take off all the parts and sell them separate, you can usually double if not triple what you paid for the thing. Many salvage dealers buy junkers from auctions.. they know the value of these burnt out cars..... and they get all the change people dropped in the crevices.... :)
5. I would say one reason is for the title. They probably have a like car at home without a title so they cant get a license plate. This of course is illegal.
