Does anyone have experience with government car auctions?

I need a new car and have heard about those auctions put on by the government where they sell cars that have been seized by irs/fbi/dea etc. Has anyone tried this? is it legit or a scam?

2. They're pretty legit and straightforward. They only thing about it is that the cars are sold in as-is condition. So it would be in your best interest to give the car a good inspection before you buy it. But other than that you can get a pretty good deal.
