I have a gun question ?
On sites such as gun broker they are selling guns completley taken apart that should be fully automatic. Are they really fully automatic and are they legal to buy in CT do you need a class three since its just a bunch of gun parts. Here is the link http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=120792912 Thanks Ben

- Those are not fully automatic. They lack the parts that require a conversion to full auto, the most important being the sear. The one you linked is even missing a barrel.
- I just looked at the site URL and couldn't find the word "complete" anywhere. Unless I just missed it, the usual scam in such deals is that the FFL-required part will be missing. Regards, Larry.
- those parts kits do not have the receiver, hence they aren't even guns...be it semiauto or full auto. However, they do have all the othe parts, so if someone wanted to make a semiauto version that looked like a famous WW2 gun, then buying that kit and building a gun from there (after filling out the appropriate ATF forms) would be the best way to do it. Also, some guns that are very common in other parts of the world as 'full auto' are often imported as kits. This agian means the receiver is removed, so then a US manufactuer simply builds a semiauto receiver, serial numbers it, and uses that to assemble an entire gun, which makes his manufacturing process a lot less expensive than if he had to build the ENTIRE thing. Some people will even just buy the semiauto receiver (which by itself is a gun...even though it couldn't fire with no barrel no trigger etc, hence must be sold by a FFL) and the buy a parts kit on line and build the gun as a hobby and as an economic way of doing it.
- All they are are incomplete parts kits. They may be de-milled kits that came from guns that were fully automatic but they are not full auto nor can be made without certain parts that we cannot buy.
